The cold breeze struck a shiver down my spine as the rain crackled through the window pane. I scattered under the thin sheet of warmth, huddling into a ball. I was all alone and terrified. The shattered pieces of glass sticking through my left foot were increasing the pain I felt.
I was hurt badly, and nobody could help. The shock I had when the disaster struck. People screaming in pain, babies weeping and cracks covering roads. I stood up slowly lifting my left foot, while bringing my hand to my foot. I began picking the pieces of glass remaining in my foot. One piece, two, three and eventually the last piece slipped out. I was relieved, in my pain, that the glass was removed, my skin forced the glass to move but luckily it was out. I slid my hand off my knees and slowly stood up. I knew that I was alone as I peered out the window, to see nothing but disaster.
A tear rolled down my eye as the lightning struck and the rain crackled on the metal shed. I slowly sat back on my squeaky bed and closed my eyes in sadness.
Suddenly, a small shadow shot past the door frame, and I was determined to find out what it was. I chased the shadow through the dark, damp hallway, but I knew that there was a tiny bit of hope. At that moment, a wet patch of dribble attacked my foot. I screamed and panicked, but discovered that the dribble was from a fury, filthy hairball. I glanced in happiness at the dog, at least that’s what I thought it was. I collected the dog in my cold wet hands, and remembered the friendship I had with my mother when she was alive.
My heart felt empty, but I knew that one day, we would be together again. Now every night, when me and fluffy climb in bed, I huddle in my blanket, and dream for that day to come!
